Where we started...
Joymelba Darius (1972)
Idak was our first Afghan. He was imported from England and was purchased at a pet store in Toronto. He is responsible for our love of the breed and is responsible for everything that follows.
Elventide’s Jasmine (1973)
Tawnya was our first bitch and the mother of our first champion. She was of mostly Canadian breeding, a standard sized shaded masked red with a very determined temperament
Jasmine’s Pride and Joy (1974 – 1978)

Tammy was from our 1st litter. She was never shown, having broken her leg as a 4 month old puppy and never being completely sound. She was a wonderful companion and graced our home for 14 years. She left us with many happy memories.
Jolterra’s Country Rose (1978)

Roses was never shown because she was heavily patterned but she was a fantastic brood bitch, she produced quality in all of her 3 litters. She is one of the Top Brood Bitches in the history of the breed in Canada with 12 Canadian and 4 American Champions. She lived to be 16 years old and was a very special companion and our only scented Afghan.
Ch Obiwan’s Rio De Janeiro ( our 1st Champion) (1978)

Rio won 5 All Breed Best in Matches, 1 Specialty Best in Match under breeder judge Mr Myles Phillps of Kophi fame. He finished his championship with 3 (5 pt) BW, won several breeds and was a group placer. He was a very sound, standard sized dog with a beautiful full blue brindle coat.
BIS SBIS Can Am Ch Obiwan’s A Crack of Thunder (1979) (Ch Dynasty’s All Star X Jolterra’s Country Rose)
Daina won a lot as a puppy, his record was
· 12 Best puppy in breed
· 1 Specialty Best puppy at the Ont Sighthound Spec under Carol Reisman
· 1 Spec BOS in Sweeps at the Can Nat Spec under Mrs Jane Jantos
Shown sparingly as an adult he did some nice winning, his record follows:
· 2 All Breed Best in Shows
· 1 Specialty Best in Show (Montreal Island) under Mrs Lynn Schanzle
· 1 Specialty BB at the Ont Sighthound Spec under Mr Desmond Murphy
Daina finished his American championship with 2 majors, 1 5pt major the day after the American Nat in Oklahoma City under Mrs Betsy Prior and 1 4pt major the day after the AHC of Southwestern Ohio under Mrs Betty Stites.
Daina was a tall, heavily coated self masked Cream brindle but appeared to be cream as his stripes faded out as he grew. He was a beautiful dog but was never used for breeding.
Ch Obiwan’s Kandelight (1979)

Kandy was from our 1st litter out of Roses, sired by Ch Dynasty’s All Star. She was bred twice and produced 6 Canadian and 2 American champions, including a Multi BIS winning son. She was a standard sized, sweet natured self-masked red bitch.
SBIS Am Can Ch Obiwan’s A Summer Storm (1979)

Soffie was an incredibly beautiful, femine bitch that was loved by all who seen her. She was a standard sized self-masked cream with a lovely paterned coat that only enhanced her beautiful features. She is the only Canadian bred bitch (that we know of) to ever win an American Specialty BIS from the classes (over 15 Am Specials) under Mr Scott Parsons. We co-owned Soffie and never kept complete records of her show wins but some highlights are:
· 1 All Breed Best in Match
· several BB and Group placements in both Can and the US
· 1 SBIS at the Afghan Hound Club of SW Ohio (5 pts) under Mr Scott Parsons
· 2 4pt majors under Mrs Lynn Schanzle and Mrs Carol Duffy
· 1 SBOS at the Ont Sighthound Spec under Mr Desmond Murphy
BIS Can Am Ch Obiwan Odyssey (1980)

Cassius was an exciting and athletic young dog with a promising career that was cut short when he blew all his coat after being xrayed. He still had some impressive wins and was used at stud once which resulted in 3 Canadian and 1 Am Champion. Highlights of his shows are:
· 1 All Breed Best In Show
· 3 US majors including a BB and Group 4 from the classes
· 1 Spec Best in Sweeps at the Canadain National Specialty

Otis was a once in a lifetime dog, very standard sized, an exciting and dynamic dog that always gave more than he was asked for as a show dog and as a companion. Not heavily campaigned he had an impressive career, some highlights are:
· 51 Best of Breeds
· 3 All Breed Best in Shows
· 1 SBOB at the Ont Sighthound Spec under Sandy Frei
· 1 Af Spec BOS under Mrs Rhoda Winter Russell
· 2 Spec Majors under Dr Gerda Kennedy and Mr Joe Colantonio
· in the Top 10 Afghans in Canada for 5 years in a row.
· Only used once at stud he produced a BIS winning son
Ch Obiwan By Design (1983)

Taarna finished her Canadian Championship undefeated in the classes. She broke her leg and never did finish her American Championship although she did have 9 points. She was super up and showy, she loved it and always gave 100%. Unfortunately she was never bred. She was our beloved companion for almost 15 years.

Vixen was the sister to Taarna and Zhanna, not as glamorous but still a wonderful girl. She finished in Canada and proved herself as a prominent brood bitch in our breeding program, producing 4 Champions including Carling (# 2 Brood Bitch in Canada)
Am Can Ch Obiwan’s Designer Original (1983)

Zhanna was a beautiful bitch who finished easily under breeder judges, she won 4 US majors including a Specialty BOS from the classes in Florida under Glorvina Schwartz. She was retired after finishing and unfortunately was never bred. She also won a
Specialty Best in Sweepstakes under Gill Ullom.
BIS Can Am Ch Obiwan’s Doubletalk (1985)

Strut was a beautiful moving dog, sound with wide open side gait. He was leggy, had a long neck and a lovely coat. He looked tall but measured in at just under 28”. He finished both championships very quickly with all major wins. We were approached by a prominent American to sell him and because we were still showing his father we decided to co-own him. He had some nice wins while being shown in the US but was returned to us in deplorable conditon after 1 year. It took another year to get him back in show condition after which he had some nice wins, highlights are:
· 5pt BW Specialty major (Chicago the day after the National) June Penta
· 5pt BW Specialty major (Finger Lakes) Joe Inguaggiato
· 4pt BW major the day after the Mid West Specialty – Lynn Schanzle
· several BB and Group placements while in the US
· 15 Group placements out of 18 breeds the one year shown in Canada
· 2 All Breed Best in Shows.
· Sired 1 litter with 3 champions
Ch Obiwan’s Idle Chatter (1985)

Phyllis finished her championship quickly, she was a lovely girl. She was a litter sister to Strut, unfortunately she was never bred but she lived to a ripe old age with her owners.
Ch Obiwan’s Loverboy (1987)

LB was an exciting honey brindle that finished his Can Championship very quickly, he was co-owned with 1st time afghan owners Bill & Judi Byrne of LyricIsle Sheltie fame and became a multiple Group winner for them in the east coast. He was unfortunately never used for breeding.
Ch Obiwan’s Talk Of The Town (1985)

Peggy Sue was Struts littermate, a lovely honey brindle. Not shown extensively she accumulated some nice wins enroute to her Canadian championship.

· WB,BW,BOS at an Afghan Booster for 5pts under Bob Forsythe
After completing her title she lived the rest of her life in luxury with her best friends Ross & Marilyn Robinson. She was bred once to Ch Cypress Silverdust and produced a beautiful litter of 9 puppies, 5 of which became Champions.
Ch Obiwan’s All Fired Up (1988-2004)

Carling was the most beautiful daughter of Sands, a very light cream brindle who appeared cream she finished her Can Championship quickly but never really like showing. She was a wonderful companion and lived to be 14 ½ years old. She proved herself as a valuable brood bitch by becoming the #2 producing brood bitch in history in Canada by producing (from 3 litters)
· 14 Canadian Champions, including Multi BIS, SBIS Ch Lilith.
· 3 American Champions.
Ch Obiwan’s Wise Guy (1990-2001)

Vincent was a lovely black male that had his show career cut short after he slipped in a hole while running and torn his cruciate ligament. He eventually became sound after surgery and treatments but never finished his Am Championship. He did have 1 major and some singles. He was sold to Michael Graat who to this day has remained one of our closest friends with whom we co-own and co-breed Afghans.
Ch Obiwan’s Ladyhawk (1990 –2005)

Madison was a highly marked blue/black/orange domino, we called here our Halloween puppy because of her colouring. Madison finished her Canadian championship quite quickly at a young age and then decorated our home for 15 ½ years. She was always a joy to have around and a cherished member of our family.
Multi BIS, SBIS Can Am Ch Obiwan Trillium (1992)

Lilith was a fantastic show girl, an ultra feminine self-masked cream with a glorious coat, always up and showing. She drew a crowd where ever she went and was the most spectator photographed dog. She had a fantastic show career and also proved the old saying that a show bitch won’t make a good brood bitch wrong as she produced 2 beautiful litters after her retirement. When she was just starting out we were approached by Christopher Coulter to sell her and we decided to form a partnership which has lasted for many years. To this day our good friend Chris still co-owns and co-breeds with us. Highlights of her career are:
· 7 All Breed Best in Shows
· 2 Best Puppy in Shows
· 103 Best of Breeds which resulted in 50 Group 1st’s , (almost 50 % of the time she won a breed she won the Group)

Ch Obiwan Tresor (1995 – 2005)

Echo was a beautiful honey brindle with a lovely smooth shoulder and long upper arm. She had a pretty head, hip details and lovely croup. She passed these qualities onto her puppies from her only litter sired by Ch Paladin Summerwind Dancing In The Dark. This litter produced 2 exceptional bitches, Nat Spec BIS Can Am Ch Obiwan’s Last Dance Vindela and Can Am Ch Obiwan Paladin Exotic Dancer. Echo was a treasure to live with and is sorely missed, she left us way too soon.

Summer is an incredible beauty, totally afghan in mind and body. She has be recognized by breeders and all round judges, winning several major awards with very limited showing. She still loves to strut her stuff even as a veteran. She was bred once and produced a beautiful litter that is just now following in her footsteps and being recognized with some significant awards. Summer is co-owned and lives with our good friend Michael Graat. Some of her career highlights are:

Ch Obiwan’s Witchcraft (1998)

Charm is an ultra elegant Mo X Lilly daughter, she finished her championship with a Specialty BW at the Ont. Sighthound Specialty under Mr Lou Guerraro. She never liked being on a lead but was a beautiful open mover with lots of lift and style. Hopefully she will be bred on her next season and we look forward to puppies from her.

Reuben has been a wonderful show dog and companion, a square leggy dog that covers a lot of ground he has been rewarded by Breeders and All Round Judges. Never heavily shown he has had some memorable wins:

Whitney is a standard sized black beauty who exemplifies type, she is a Breed winner and Group placer in both Canada and the US. She is still in search of 1 US major to complete her championship there. She is a litter sister to Ch’s Reuben, Dillon (Am Can Ch Obiwan’s Midnight Blues) and Isis (Am Ch Obiwan’s Fancy Blue Isis). Whitney was Best of Breed at the prestigious Ontario Sighthound Specialty under Mr Daina Cline.
